- Marginal Revolution is easily my favorite blog. I’ve been a subscriber on Google Reader (by the way, use it, it rocks) for around 2-3 years and Tyler Cowen and Alex Tabarrok (both professors of economics at GMU) have not let me down once. It is my first and last stop when I am looking for book ideas, most recently for the book I just finished, The Origins of AIDS by Jacques Pepin (In short, it was absolutely fascinating but you can read Tyler’s comments for more). Just go there, right now.
- Greg Mankiw’s blog would have to be tied for 2nd place with John Cochrane’s, The Grumpy Economist. Professor Mankiw’s blog is probably the one I’ve been reading for the longest time but recently he got a promotion and hasn’t had as much time for blogging (understandably so). Professor Cochrane teaches at The University of Chicago and typically posts very long blog entries (in a good way). He has been posting frequently about the Euro crisis with some real clarity.
- I can’t in good faith, leave Lifehacker off of my list. Lifehacker is a tech blog that has an uncanny obsession with productivity. While I have noticed a decline in the quality of the posts since Gina Tripani left, it still has a special place in my heart.
- http://keithhennessey.com. I like this blog more for the wealth of political procedural knowledge that Keith Hennessey brings to the table than the anti-Democrat sentiments that are in abundance.
- John D Cook’s blog, The Endeavor is a blog that is not limited to the topic of practical computer programming but is concentrated heavily in that area. It is way over my head most of the time but I read his posts and attempt to understand.
