While I’m not one to be an impulse buyer, today I let myself go during a trip to Bed Bath and Beyond and bought a Pasta Boat.
It may seem silly, but I went to the store with the intent to buy a pot for pasta (which would have cost $20) and I substituted that with the $6 Pasta boat. I’m not usually a sucker for the “As seen on TV” type gadget but it is actually pretty great! To cook pasta only requires placing the pasta along with water (the proper amount is very easy to determine based on markings on the side) into the “boat” and microwaving the thing for about 10 minutes. It even has a strainer lid (which was slightly hard to put on once the boat contained boiling water, but I may just need more practice). The pasta came out just as good as it would on the stove and it was very easy to clean.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who might be afraid of cooking or might not have access to a conventional stove-top.
I intend on posting more frequently these days.
If you follow my brother’s recipe, you can do it in a bowl, no straining needed::
I hope you know that 10 minutes is WAY more than the recommended cooking time for pasta made the traditional way.
10 minutes was for pasta sitting in cold water. if the water is already hot it is much faster.
