From The New York Times:
At a conservative conference earlier in the year, Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, ridiculed the 2016 Democratic field as “a rerun of ‘The Golden Girls,’ ” referring to Mrs. Clinton and Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr., who is 70.
Classy.
The Times also draws the appropriate comparison between Clinton, who will be 69 in the 2016 election, and Ronald Reagan, who was 69 when he ran in 1980. It seems appropriate to note that Reagan’s 1986 Immigration Reform and Control Act seems an awful lot like our own current immigration proposal; both make use of heightened border security, employer sanctions and legalization – ahem, amnesty – to address immigration quandaries. One has to note how centrist some of Reagan’s policies are, by the standards of today’s Republican party.
At any rate, given how savvy the Obama administration is with the whole getting people to vote thing, the Republicans are probably better off honing their algorithms than their insults.
